As an Engineer/Operations Manager, how does Pani ZEDs™ Focus platform benefit me in a Chemical Cost Workflow?
The Engineer or Operations Manager sets up chemical cost KPI’s on the Pani platform as an aid to determine current chemical cost and cost saving measures that can be applied and realized through the optimization processes that Pani employs. The key metrics listed below can be calculated using the KPI Creator feature found on the Data page. These are KPI's to create that are recommended for your cost savings workflow.
Chemical Cost and Consumption
- Daily chemical consumption
- Daily chemical cost
- Specific chemical cost
For example, we will create a Daily chemical cost for a specific chemical. Before this can be done, we have to ensure we have some historical data in the Pani platform which to create the KPI.
We do this by creating a Chemical Consumption Log sheet using the FormBuilder tool which will contain the necessary fields we want to base out KPI on, such as daily usage, dosing, cost of chemicals etc. Then the Operator populates the fields with your existing data.
Once we have this data, we can create our KPI like shown below using the Expression Builder in KPI Creator:

We can preview our KPI in a graph and make adjustments in the expression builder before we save it.

Once created, these KPI's can be linked to by creating a Cost Overview dashboard that includes information that is important for chemical cost and consumption, such as KPI’s for the unit cost of chemicals, the total cost per unit over a period of time, and the relative cost over a current period of time vs a previous period of time. The Engineer or Operations Manager, while reviewing the dashboard is presented with graphs showing current cost consumptions that can help to determine where cost savings measures can occur.

From this the Operations Manager sets up reports using the Report Scheduler that provides mobile reports that are sent out via email daily to provide him/her critical updates of these cost measures which are reviewed as part of a daily routine.
Alerts are also set up by the Operations Manager that will trigger when say, relative chemical cost increases over a specific percentage, providing an awareness when trends change and aid in determining if it’s due to a needed maintenance related issue or some other reason, so this can be acted upon and resolved quickly.
The Operations Manager develops an SOP for using consistent note capturing by operators using Pani’s Quick Logs. This is an important step to help ensure everyone is on the same sheet of music. Consistent note capturing by all operators results in consistent data between shifts. Using Quick Logs provides the added benefits of being displayed in Interactive graphs. Important when it comes to analyzing anomalies and solving issues and pain-points.
The Pani ZED™ platform provides the Operations Manager with a wealth of Information, which he/she can perform deep-dives to find out more information, that aids in decision making and actions that are then communicated to the operations of the plant. All of these processes lead to plant savings which can be realized in the Overview graphs and reports.
